Kernow Initial Teacher Education

Kernow Initial Teacher Education (KITE) is an Associate College of the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), a national flagship teacher training provider delivering programmes across England, including the beautiful county of Cornwall!

At KITE, we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of teachers. Our training is grounded in the latest and most relevant educational research and evidence, ensuring that you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to become an exceptional teacher.

We work collaboratively with leading education trusts across Cornwall, all committed to developing and supporting the next generation of teachers. Collectively, Kernow Learning, The Roseland Academy Trust and Aspire Academy Trust represent 56 primary and secondary schools across Cornwall.

This extensive network gives our trainees greater choice and wider opportunities throughout their training. With a broad range of partner schools, you can benefit from local placement opportunities, reduced travel costs and excellent employment prospects. Our close relationships with schools and Trusts also mean that trainees are well-placed to hear about teaching vacancies as they arise.

Our cohorts are often smaller than those of other providers, allowing us to build strong, supportive and trusting relationships with our trainees from the start!

Every trainee brings their own experiences, ambitions and strengths. Some join us straight out of university, while others come to us with experience of working in education or are taking the exciting step of changing career.
